Irish disappointment as Derry City exit Europe Stage...25/07/2013
Derry City, the sole suviving Airtricity League side in this season's UEFA competitions, found the challenge presented by Trabzonspor AS of Turkey in the second round second leg of the Europa League too much as they went down to a three nil defeat in the Brandywell this evening. The seven two aggregate defeat for the 'Candystripes' sees Ireland unrepresented in at least a second European contest for the first time in several years.

U21 Head Coach, Noel King is likely to be encouraged by the pre-season performances of a number of U21 candidates for the upcoming UEFA Championship qualifier in the Faroe Islands on Wednesday 14 August 2013. Champions League disappointment for Sligo Rovers...23/07/2013
Sligo Rovers went down to a two nil defeat against Molde FK in the second-leg of their second qualifying round UEFA Champions League tie in Norway This afternoon, to exit the competition on a three nil aggregate. The concession of a goal after just five minutes put them under pressure and whilst they had several goalscoring opportunities they failed to convert any of them. The second goal ten minutes from time settled matters and they must now prepare for a crucial Airtricity Premier Division clash with Shamrock Rovers in the Showgrounds on Saturday night.

Trapattoni - squad announcement this afternoon ...19/07/2013
Manager Giovanni Trapattoni this afternoon announced a provisional twenty six man Republic of Ireland squad for the friendly international with Wales on Wednesday 14 August 2013.
Our thoughts on the likely squad appear to have been vindicated with Anthony Pilkington included, his one last chance to show?, Stephen Quinn, impressive in training and secure during his cameo appearance in June, has also received an initial invitation, while Under 21 players Robbie Brady and Jeff Hendrick are included, but it remains to be seen whether one or both may be permitted to join Noel King's squad for the opening European Championship qualifier in the Faroe Islands on the same evening?.

July Club Meeting - Special Anniversary Feature
Our upcoming meeting on Friday 26 July 2013 falls on the fifteenth anniversary of our U18/19 side, managed by Brian Kerr and including Richard Dunne and Robbie Keane, defeating Germany at the European Championship Final in Cyprus. The victory capped a memorable summer for Ireland and Kerr, as just two months earlier, our U16/17 side, with John O'Shea and Andy Reid in their ranks, lifted their European Championship with victory over Italy in the final played in Scotland. We have, courtesy of RTE, footage of both successes and subject to no late complications, we hope to have Liam George, who converted the winning penalty in the shoot-out against Germany, with us on the night.
